The
Uppsala-ESO Survey of Asteroids and Comets (UESAC) took place in 1992–1993. A large number of
asteroids were investigated. Over 15,000 positions were detected, and orbits were calculated for 2500. As of 2006, a total of 1002 new asteroids were discovered and numbered in the process, ranging from
6102 Visby to
(120498) 1993 FD53. More may yet be added as their orbits are confirmed.
The observations were taken from the
European Southern Observatory in
Chile, and the
Anglo-Australian Observatory in
Australia. Details were published in 1996.
